C.ex Community Crew Sleep Out

The fourth C.ex Community Crew Sleep Out was held on Wednesday 28 June 2017 at the C.ex Coffs International Stadium. The annual fundraising event is held during June each year and encourages all community members to register and sleep out for the night, enduring what 105,000 homeless Australians experience on any given night.

The event saw 110 participants from as far as Sydney fundraise in the lead up to the night, before braving the winter cold and 3am rain, sleeping on the stadium field in cardboard boxes.

Each year, 100% of funds raised through the C.ex Community Crew Sleep Out are equally distributed between charities:

Bridging the Gap Men’s Resource Centre

Homes for Heroes

Warrina Domestic & Family Violence Specialist Services Cooperative

The community’s response to the event was tremendous, with many local businesses and community groups supporting the initiative through either participating or donating. A special thanks to the Coffs Harbour Chamber of Commerce, St George Bank, Coffs Interact Club, Hit 105.5 Coffs Coast, Generocity Church, Goodstart Early Learning, Coastal Media, Key Employment, Coffs Harbour City Council and the receiving charities who were huge supporters of this year’s event.

Recognition must also be given to the C.ex Community Crew, who volunteer their time to coordinate, plan and carry out the Sleep Out. Without the C.ex Community Crew’s dedication to the local community and desire to make a difference the event wouldn’t go ahead.
