History

CourtyardIn 1946 a committee was formed to establish the Coffs Harbour and District Ex-Service Men and Women"s Memorial Club. Trading began on July 9 1949 and by February 1951 the club had a membership of 366. At present membership is over 22,000. To accommodate this growth over the past forty-nine years, there has been a great deal of expansion of the original premises. Two different lots of development occurred between 1954 to 1957 and then again from 1968 to 1970. There were more renovations in 1977 and again in 1981.

In 1988 the Coffs Harbour Bowling Club became a part of the total club complex when the two clubs amalgamated. The two separate facilities were joined by an umbilical corridor and now function under the name the Coffs Ex-Services Club.

Club ExteriorIn 1997, Coffs Ex-Services Club completed Stage 2B of the current series of renovations, the most ambitious in the Clubs history with spending in excess of $10 million to this point. These renovations have added a new gaming room, two new bar areas, new entertainment areas, an extension and refurbishment of the existing auditorium, a new underground dock, cellar and storage area and car parking facilities for 150 vehicles.

In 2001 the next Stage 3 extension was opened. This $5.5 million project saw the opening of Bunkers Family Eatery, Cutlers Coffee Shop, Legends Sports Bar, TAB bar and a smoke-free gaming area. In 2002 Coffs Ex-Services Club amalgamated with the Woolgoolga Bowling Club ensuring the coastal township of Woolgoolga continued to provide members of the local community with first class sporting and recreation facilities. 2002 also saw Coffs Ex-Services Club awarded the CLUBSNSW "Encouragement of Sport" award.
